About David Stewart
Mr. David E. Stewart is a native of Alabama. He holds a B.A. degree in History and M.A. degree in counseling, with extensive post graduate studies in education. He has been an avid student of the Civil War since an early age. David has traveled extensively throughout the United States and Western Europe. He has carefully studied all phases of the American Civil War and has read hundreds of books on the subject. He has personally visited a majority of Civil War battle sites in both the Eastern and Western theatres. He is especially knowledgeable about the battle of Shiloh and the battle of Gettysburg, regularly leading tour groups to those locations. For 20 years Stewart has successfully operated a business consulting firm with operations throughout the Eastern United States. He has experience working in management with two large national corporations as well, in addition to holding several leadership posts in his profession. Stewart's battlefield tours have proved to be an excellent vehicle for corporations and public entities to use for offsite staff enhancement meetings. During the past 20 years Stewart made a study of leadership and team building; concepts from these studies are frequently incorporated into the tours. Stewart, a skilled communicator with an easy style, has the ability to communicate with large and small audiences. Part of his uniqueness is that he is able to conduct the tours at the level of a graduate student or a fourth grade class with equal facility. Stewart relishes the challenge of bringing to life the events which shaped American History, while stimulating tour participants to examine leadership challenges and interpersonal communication skills techniques which are applicable in today's world. David Stewart's photo recently appeared in connection with an opinion piece by Winston Groom in the April 6, 2012 edition of the New York Times. |
